Comments
Costco Optical
excellent price, excellent lens quality, great service and warranty, good frame selection
Loblaws Optical/Superstore
excellent price, excellent lenses, best lens selection, great service and warranty, good frame selection, Canadian owned
ZenniOptical.com
online, Chinese, huge frame selection, extremely low prices if single vision with low prescription, no name lenses
Oakley Optical
(Portage Avenue)
excellent lenses, unique frames, great service (Randy), premium prices, locally owned
ClearlyContacts.ca
online, very large frame selection, low prices, but recently rising quite a bit lately, was Canadian, now owned by Essilor
Walmart Optical
it's Walmart with all it's pros and cons
The Bay Optical
the last 'independent' optician in the mall, good service, decent prices, well made
Westwood Optical
well regarded local boutique, excellent lenses, very good service, locally owned
For Eyes Optical
unique frames, excellent lenses, premium prices, you think the service is 'snooty', cachet, locally owned
Linden Ridge Optical
my insiders say a good place to find frames for small faces, locally owned
Trends
Costco, Superstore, and the internet giants Zenni and ClearlyContacts have become incredibly popular. Many of the small locally owned boutiques have something very special to offer. The big losers are the traditional mall based optical chains, you just don't buy there as much any more.
